Nowadays Delft Blue

Dora Dolz was a Spanish-Dutch visual artist. She is especially famous for her ceramic exterior images in the form of chairs and benches. Dolz grew up in Barcelona where her father had a position on the flea market. In 1965 she came to the Netherlands. Between 1967 and 1971 she studied at the Rotterdam Academy of Fine Arts, where she was a lecturer from the 1980s. As an artist, she mainly made paintings, ceramics, glassware and carpets, which she usually gave in shiny colors.

The project "Nowadays Delft blue" has been made between 1992 and 1995. The tile roof in the breakfast area is designed specifically for this space. Everyday elements in Delft blue from the 16th century are brought together with colorful fruit. A unique tile table or ceramic piece is designed specifically for each room. This project has also been established together withthe Royal Porceleyne Fles, the only remaining Delft blue factory.
